Thank you for your interest in Heritage for the Blind. We are a non-profit organization whose goal is to help enable the blind and visually impaired to become independent and to participate fully in society. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, listed in the Cumulative List of Tax-Exempt Organizations Serving the Blind & Visually Impaired in the United States.

By supporting our organization with your vehicle donation, you will enable us to continue to work on our numerous projects. For example, your generous support will allow us to continue with our:

St. Louis, Missouri is a city located in the Midwestern portion of the United States; there is a population of roughly 2 million people. The city was founded in 1764 by Pierre LaClede, a French fur trader. The climate varies per. Season wet, the city hosts wet, stormy springs, hot, humid summers, mild autumns and cold, snowy, stormy winters. There are 79 assigned neighborhoods in this city that puts an emphasis on sports and is widely known for its baseball team – the Cardinals. St. Louis is probably best known for its lovely architectural feature, the Gateway Arch.

Being the best known attraction for tourists visiting St. Louis, the Gateway Arch is a must see. It is visible from many areas of the city but a visit offers a 630 foot ride to the very top. If you are a sports person, a Cardinals game would be a game not to be missed. The Cardinals have won eleven World Series and is one of the oldest teams in Major League Baseball. Meramec Caverns is a great underground attraction; however, there are a lot of activities to do above ground when not below. The cavern portion is a guided tour of the cavern that teaches visitors about the history of the carven and names of stalactites and stalagmites. There is also canoeing, camping, indoor lodging, a chance to go gold panning and wild zipline runs that are sure to get the heart racing. The Casino Queen is a casino that offers more than just gambling. They have live bands and entertainment on weekends, four separate restaurants, a sports lounge, hotel and even an RV park! The Hill is another great place for a visitor wanting to do a little shopping while taking in their outdoor surroundings. There are six retail shops, 12 galleries and 15 different places to eat.  Make sure that you stop by Six Flags for extreme thrills and adrenaline rushes that come in the form of jaw dropping rides and roller coasters. They offer discounts for different types of groups and if you are too tired after a day at the amusement park, there are plenty of great hotels within walking distance.

Heritage for the Blind is a charity group who focuses on making life a little easier for those who are blind or partially sighted as well as for others who just want to learn more about eye diseases and resources that are available for many people. They have a benefit search program that offers extensive services such as vision care, help for those with Alzheimer’s, veterans, medical expenses, food, heating, prescriptions and more. They also offer information on sports groups for the visually impaired. They will link you with groups such as the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA), the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) and The National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA). Their funding comes in the form of tax deductible donations. Cars are the most popular form, when a car is donated it is salvaged for parts and metal recycling. Furniture and monetary donations are accepted and even stocks can be donated.
